Meeting Minutes

Regular trustee meeting minutes are a record of the decisions and actions made during a trustee meeting. They are important for documenting the information presented at the meeting. These meetings are open to the public.

Executive sessions are closed-door meetings where members of a public body discuss specific matters without the public present. In Ohio, executive sessions are governed by the Open Meetings Act and the following rules: 

Executive sessions are for deliberation only, and no decisions or votes can be made. Some topics that can be discussed in executive session include:

  • Employee or official appointments, employment, discipline, compensation, etc.
  • Property purchases or sales
  • Conferences with the board’s attorney about pending court action
  • Negotiations with employees
  • Matters that must be kept confidential by state or federal law
  • Security arrangements 

Only members of the public body and invited guests can attend executive session. 

All discussions in an executive session are confidential and must not be shared with anyone outside of the session. 

No decisions can be made in executive session. All decisions must be made in public.
