Road Department
The Hambden Township Road Department consists of three full-time employees responsible for maintaining 25.53 miles of Township roads. During the summer months, two part-time employees assist the road crew with mowing, trimming, and general upkeep of Hambden Township Park, Hambden Township Cemetery, Sisson Road Cemetery, and the Town Hall grounds. These employees are also used in traffic control while doing road repairs.
Hambden Township Park
The Park Board meets April -November each year to discuss enhancements, use, and maintenance of the park. Check Announcements for any Park Board openings.
The Hambden Township Park consists of 29.64 acres of land in Geauga County. The park is located on the north side of GAR Highway – across the street from the Hambden Town Hall and Hambden Elementary School. On that land are four baseball fields; four picnic pavilions; three play areas with swings, sand diggers, a tarantula climber, a basketball court; 1.63 miles of walking track; and the Veteran’s Memorial.
In April 2013, the Hambden Township Trustees submitted and received a Nature Works Grant to construct the last phase of the walking trail. Up to this point, the trail was just under one mile in length. The Park Board continues to add new playground equipment for the young residents of Hambden Township.

Hambden Township Cemetery
Hambden Township maintains two cemeteries located in the township.
The Sisson Road Cemetery has many of the old graves and is no longer admitting new burials.
The Hambden Township Cemetery continues to actively accept new burials and cremations in both the ground and in the columbarium.
Hambden Township Town Hall
The Hambden Old Town Hall is available for rent by Hambden Township residents only. The cost to rent is $50, and a $100 refundable security deposit is required. Both are due at the time of booking the hall, showing proof of residency and completing the hall use agreement form.
The key to the Town Hall is available in a key lockbox located by the main doors to the Town Hall building. Access to the lockbox is by personal code, which will be issued at the time of the rental. An access code will not be available for use until the day of the rental.

Zoning Department
A township zoning inspector is responsible for enforcing zoning regulations, including inspecting properties to ensure compliance with local zoning laws regarding building location, size, and use of land within the township’s jurisdiction.
In many cases, construction or land use changes require a zoning permit, which may involve submitting plans and obtaining approval from the zoning inspector before starting work.
