MINUTES

The Hambden Township Zoning Commission held a public meeting on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hambden Town Hall.  The following members were present: Lois Cox, Louise Fraser, Jane Loisdaughter, Ron Eliason, and Helen Scheuring.  Richard Lang was absent.  Also in attendance were Hambden Township Trustee Keith McClintock, and Hambden Township Trustee Nadine Pope.
Mrs. Fraser called the public meeting to order, and welcomed guests. Mrs. Pope stated that she is in attendance as a private citizen for State Representative Dolan's discussion on the happenings in Columbus.   
Mrs. Scheuring reported that State Representative Matt Dolan could not make the meeting tonight, but would come to a future meeting.  The Commission requested Mrs. Scheuring to reschedule the meeting for August 4, 2008, and to inform Mrs. Pope as soon as possible of the new date.  Mrs. Pope will advertise the new meeting date and time in the local newspaper, and on the Township website. Mrs. Cox mentioned that Ohio Senator Grendell spoke to the Zoning Commission at a past meeting, and was very informative.  But, Mrs. Cox believes that Senator Grendell and State Representative Dolan should speak at Township Trustee meetings where more people attend, and the meetings are much better advertised.
Jane Loisdaughter moved, and Lois Cox seconded the motion to accept minutes from June 2, 2008. Upon call of vote: Lois Cox, yes. Jane Loisdaughter, yes.  Ron Eliason, yes.  Helen Scheuring, yes.  Louise Fraser, yes. Motion carried.
Mr. McClintock mentioned that he will not be available for the Zoning Commission's meeting on August 4, 2008.
Zoning Inspector's Report
Mrs. Welch submitted the Zoning Report for June 2008.  Mrs. Welch reported that the Zoning Department approved the final plat of Coldwater Reserve Subdivision.  The fire pond is located in the subdivision, in accordance with Article VI.  Previously, the fire pond was located outside the subdivision. 

Mrs. Fraser noted that the Hambden Township Zoning Resolution is now linked onto the Township's website.

Miscellaneous

NEOhio Regional Planning & Zoning Workshop
Keith McClintock, Helen Scheuring, and Ron Eliason attended the NEOhio Regional Planning & Zoning Workshop at St. Mary's Catholic Church in June, 2008. All reported that it was an informative workshop that reaffirmed general information received from past zoning seminars, and centered on issues relating to Lake County.  Mr. Eliason mentioned that he appreciated the discussion lead by Appellant Judge Connor.  Judge Connor stressed the need for zoning to be very careful not to infringe on resident's rights granted by the First Amendment, and the need to seek legal advice on all proposed zoning language to eliminate the need for any court action, Mr. Eliason reported.
