ROADS Mr. Kaminski reported that residents of Sawmill Drive are requesting that we stop using cinders on Sawmill Drive. Mr. Kaminski explained that several years ago when they were using salt on Sawmill it was damaging the road. The concrete was flaking off in layers. Sawmill Drive resident, Dale Diemer asked why cinders were needed since the road is flat and straight. Road Superintendent, Dave Heald stated that the bus drivers need to start and stop frequently and want the cinders. After discussing the issue, Mr. Kaminski stated that the road department would try reducing the amount of cinders used and see if the bus drivers file any complaints. Sawmill Drive resident, Bob Wright stated that the reduction of cinder use would be appreciated.
Mr. Heald reported that he has been getting storage tank quotes for purchasing "magic liquid" in bulk. The 1500 gallon tank would cost $715 plus $200 delivery. The 4000 gallon tank would cost $2,050.00 for the tank. We currently pay $4.70/gallon for "magic liquid" sprayed on by Wheeler Landscaping. The cost would drop to $3.20/gallon if the township did there own spraying. The "beet" product would cost $3.50/gallon for the product only but would drop to $2/gallon with a 3200 gallon minimum purchase. This is the same product the state uses and they are happy with the results. Mrs. Pope suggested Mr. Heald contact the company and see if we can try the product before purchasing a storage tank and 3200 gallons of product.
Mr. Heald reported that Leanne Exum, the new engineer at the County Engineering office is working on the Bascom Road re-paving estimate.
